In line with India’s vision of 100% e-mobility by 2030, the Gujarat State Government has designed
and implemented the first E-buses project in India in 2021. This was in response to the key challenge of
providing clean, economical, and smooth transport.
As a pioneering project in India, it had several challenges, including lack of charging infrastructure, installation, operation and maintenance of charging stations, high installation costs, etc. Delta offered its support by providing a comprehensive charging solution including high-capacity chargers, a software solution.
Delta Electronics India, in conjunction with India’s CPO partner – Charge+Zone, focused on developing country-wide charging infrastructure, has facilitated Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service by providing a fleet of 11 units of 150kW DC chargers to charge E-buses supplied by Ashok Leyland. It was the first project that stimulated the adoption of clean transport in India.

With Infra built by Delta, Ashok Leyland operates 40 E-buses in the city to connect key areas of the city. The adoption of e-buses has made it easier for passengers to enjoy cleaner and more economical transport and has also helped to reduce carbon emissions by a considerable amount. It also helped to save a fraction of the money due to very low operating costs, and also took the first step towards reducing dependence on conventional fuels.
